Wine Nelson

A boutique wine region with some big impact.

Taste Nelson Wines stickers were born during the pandemic when ‘loving local’ became ever more prevalent as a key purchase decision-maker.

Today, you will still see that sticker adorning some of Nelson’s favourite wines across shelves in local supermarkets.

Understanding the science behind consumer behaviour is an area of passion for some of the Publik team. This in-depth understanding of marketing helps us define the strategy for our clients – and for Wine Nelson. The long game was about helping our local market truly understand the immense quality of wines produced in the Nelson Tasman region.

How do you shift those consumer behaviours? Well, we needed people to try more Nelson wine – and see for themselves what the fuss is about.

From the well-known brands that grace our shelves to the lesser-known that deliver just as much satisfaction, there is a wealth of knowledge and personality behind the brands in the Nelson Tasman wine region.

Publik took to sharing their stories through a campaign that brought the incredible stories of Wine Nelson’s brands to light.

The tone that amplifies the ‘why’

Through marketing copy development focusing on Wine Nelson’s unique truths, we were able to apply a sense of identity to this established brand.

Our messaging encouraged shifts purchase behaviours. Because of the boutique nature of many of the winemakers in the region, there really was something personal about the experience Wine Nelson had to offer.

We emphasised how people could discover the delights of the region’s distinctive varietals, and encouraged people to experience premium wines from New Zealand’s best-kept wine secret, and explore the artistic passion that is notable in every sip. To capture the special moments and the excitement of tasting a wine that reminds you of something you loved, but had forgotten.

Visual language

With a logo in play, it was time to breathe life into the words on the paper and demonstrate through visual language the life behind this region’s wine industry.

With all the assets in play, collateral and online presence took on a bigger role in the storytelling for this brand, amplifying the life and personality behind what is the Nelson Tasman wine industry.

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story can make all the difference.
